About This Book

Tafsir As-Sa'di — Taysir al-Karim al-Rahman fi Tafsir Kalam al-Mannaan — is the most widely recommended entry-point tafsir for English-speaking Muslims. Shaykh As-Sa'di's approach is unmatched in its combination of scholarly reliability and accessibility: he explains every verse with clarity and eloquence, draws on the Qur'an and authentic Sunnah, and writes in a way that speaks directly to the heart as well as the mind.

Tafsir As-Sa'di: Parts 1, 2, and 3 begins at the very beginning — Surah al-Baqarah — and covers the first three sections (ajza) of the Qur'an. These opening parts of the Qur'an contain some of its most important chapters and most essential guidance: the foundations of iman, the story of Bani Isra'il, the laws of fasting, pilgrimage, marriage, and financial dealings, and the central declarations of Tawheed that run through every early Medinan surah.

What This Volume Covers

Surah al-Baqarah — The Longest Chapter

Surah al-Baqarah is the longest chapter in the Qur'an and among the most significant — containing Ayat al-Kursi, the last two verses of the surah (al-Baqarah 285–286), the story of Adam, the story of Bani Isra'il, and legislation covering fasting, pilgrimage, marriage, divorce, financial dealings, and more. As-Sa'di's explanation of this chapter is one of the most valuable single-chapter commentaries available in English.

The Beginning of Surah Ali Imran

Parts 1–3 extend into the early portions of Surah Ali Imran — covering the opening verses on the nature of the Qur'an, the stories of Maryam and Isa (peace be upon him), the Battle of Uhud, and the foundational guidance on steadfastness, reliance on Allah, and the correct response to trial. As-Sa'di's commentary here is marked by deep spiritual insight applied with Salafi precision.

About the Author

Shaykh Abdur-Rahman Nasir As-Sa'di (1889–1956 AH) was one of the preeminent scholars of his era, the primary teacher of Shaykh Muhammad ibn Salih al-Uthaymin, and the author of this landmark tafsir that the scholars have consistently recommended as the starting point for Quranic study. This is the first of the individual volumes from his complete 10-volume tafsir, also available at The Islamic Book Cafe. Published by Darussalam Publishers.

Who This Book Is For
