Shaykh Ibn Uthaymin
Shaykh Muhammad ibn Salih al-Uthaymin (1347–1421 AH / 1929–2001 CE) was one of the most prominent and prolific scholars of the modern era, a leading authority of Ahlus-Sunnah wal-Jamaah in the contemporary world. Based in Unaizah, Saudi Arabia, he studied for many years under Shaykh Abdur-Rahman Nasir as-Sa'di, his primary teacher and one of the great mufassireen of the modern age, before going on to teach for decades himself and leave behind an extraordinary body of explanations, fatawa, and commentaries that remain among the most accessible and widely studied works for English-speaking Muslims today.
Shaykh Ibn Uthaymin's scholarship is distinguished by its clarity, its strict adherence to evidence from the Qur'an and authentic Sunnah, and its practical relevance to the everyday life of the believer — from aqeedah and fiqh to marriage, divorce, and the etiquettes of worship. His explanations of classical texts remain among the most trusted references available in English.
