Ibn Taymiyyah

Shaykh al-Islam Ahmad ibn Abd al-Halim Ibn Taymiyyah (661–728 AH) was a scholar of Ahlus-Sunnah wal-Jamaah whose work shaped how the creed of the Salaf was defended in his era and after it. Born in Harran and raised in Damascus, he devoted his life to defending the aqeedah of the Salaf against the philosophical innovations and theological deviations of his time — work that came at great personal cost, including repeated imprisonment, which he bore with steadfastness.

Ibn Taymiyyah's scholarship spans aqeedah, fiqh, tafsir, and systematic refutation of misguided sects, always returning to a single standard: the Qur'an and authentic Sunnah as understood by the first three generations. Imam adh-Dhahabi described him as an ocean of knowledge that had no shore. Centuries later, his works are still widely studied and referenced.
