Ibn Taymiyyah
Shaykh al-Islam Ahmad ibn Abd al-Halim Ibn Taymiyyah (661–728 AH) is one of the most influential scholars in Islamic history and a towering figure for Ahlus-Sunnah wal-Jamaah. Born in Harran and raised in Damascus, he devoted his life to defending the aqeedah of the Salaf against the philosophical innovations and theological deviations of his time — work that came at great personal cost, including repeated imprisonment, which he bore with unwavering steadfastness.
Ibn Taymiyyah's scholarship spans aqeedah, fiqh, tafsir, and systematic refutation of misguided sects, always returning to a single standard: the Qur'an and authentic Sunnah as understood by the first three generations. Imam adh-Dhahabi described him as an ocean of knowledge that had no shore. Centuries later, his works remain among the most studied and most relevant in the entire Islamic tradition.
