The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) was born in Makkah on 12 Rabi' al-Awwal, the Year of the Elephant. His father's name was 'Abd-Allah Ibn 'Abd al-Muttalib al-Hashimi, and his mother was Amina Bint Wahb. At that time, Makkah was full of idols that Arabs worshipped.
