This collection brings together the work of two of the greatest hadith masters of the Islamic tradition. Imam Shams al-Din adh-Dhahabi (673–748 AH) was a celebrated scholar of hadith, history, and narrator-criticism from Damascus and a student of Ibn Taymiyyah, renowned for vast works such as Siyar A'lam an-Nubala and his biographical dictionaries of hadith narrators.
Al-Hafiz Ibn Hajar al-Asqalani (773–852 AH), known as Amir al-Mu'minin fi al-Hadith, was the foremost muhaddith of his age and author of Fath al-Bari, the celebrated commentary on Sahih al-Bukhari. Together their scholarship forms a cornerstone of the sciences of hadith and narrator-evaluation.
