Shaykh Atiyyah Muhammad Salim
Shaykh Atiyyah Muhammad Salim (1346–1420 AH) was a scholar, judge, and long-serving teacher of the Prophet's Mosque in Madinah. Born in Egypt, he travelled as a young man to Madinah, where he studied hadith, Arabic, and the science of inheritance in the study-circles of the Prophet's Mosque under teachers such as Abdur-Rahman al-Afriqi and Hamad al-Ansari, before completing higher studies in Shari'ah and the Arabic language in Riyadh.
He is best remembered as the close student and companion of the great Mauritanian scholar Muhammad al-Amin ash-Shanqiti, whose monumental tafsir Adwa al-Bayan he completed after his teacher's death. He taught at the Islamic University of Madinah from the time of its founding, served for many years as a judge in Madinah, and held his own teaching circles in the Prophet's Mosque — where students of knowledge from many lands gathered around him — until he passed away. Below are the titles connected to Shaykh Atiyyah Muhammad Salim available at The Islamic Book Cafe.
