Dr. V. Abdur Rahim
Dr. V. Abdur Rahim (1933–2023) was an Indian Arabic linguist and teacher, born in Vaniyambadi in Tamil Nadu, who became one of the most widely studied teachers of the Arabic language in the modern era. He learned Arabic largely through his own effort, took a degree in English language and literature at the University of Madras, and then completed his master's and doctorate in Arabic philology at al-Azhar University in Cairo.
In 1969 he joined the Islamic University of Madinah — then headed by Shaykh Abdul-Aziz ibn Baz — to teach Arabic to non-native speakers, where he remained for more than three decades. There he designed the course known as Durus al-Lughah al-Arabiyyah li-Ghayr an-Natiqina biha, popularly known around the world as the "Madinah Books," through which countless English-speaking students have taken their first steps in the language of the Qur'an. He later served as Director of the Translation Centre at the King Fahd Qur'an Printing Complex in Madinah and authored more than thirty works. Below are the titles by Dr. V. Abdur Rahim available at The Islamic Book Cafe.
