Dr. Abu Ameenah Bilal Philips is a contemporary author, teacher, and da'ee, and one of the most widely read English-language writers on Islam. Born in Jamaica and raised in Canada, he embraced Islam in 1972 and travelled to study the religion at its source, earning a degree in Usul ad-Din from the Islamic University of Madinah, a master's in Islamic Theology from King Saud University in Riyadh, and a doctorate in Islamic Theology from the University of Wales.
He has taught Islamic studies for decades and founded the International Open University to make structured Islamic education widely accessible. His many works — on tawheed, the sciences of hadith, and the fundamentals of the religion — are prized for presenting authentic knowledge in a clear, accessible style upon the understanding of the Salaf.
