Dr. Abdur-Rahman al-Mahmood
Dr. Abdur-Rahman ibn Salih al-Mahmood (born 1373 AH / 1953 CE in al-Bakiriyyah in the al-Qassim region of Saudi Arabia), of the tribe of Bani Tamim, is a contemporary scholar of creed and Islamic jurisprudence. He graduated from the Faculty of Shari'ah in Riyadh and went on to complete his master's and doctorate in the Faculty of Usul ad-Din at Imam Muhammad ibn Saud Islamic University.
He studied under a number of well-known scholars of Ahl as-Sunnah, among them Shaykh Salih al-Fawzan, Shaykh Abdur-Rahman al-Barrak, and Shaykh Abdul-Karim al-Lahim. His writing is grounded in the Qur'an and the authentic Sunnah upon the understanding of the Salaf, and among his best-known works in English is a detailed study of ruling by other than what Allah has revealed, examining and refuting the two opposing extremes of the Murji'ah and the Khawarij.
