Abu al-Hasan Ali al-Wahidi an-Neesaboori

Al-Imam Abu al-Hasan Ali al-Wahidi an-Naysaburi (d. 468 AH) was a scholar of Qur'anic exegesis and the Arabic language based in Nishapur. He studied under the well-known mufassir ath-Tha'labi and taught tafsir and the sciences of the Qur'an, and his verdicts in exegesis were relied upon by scholars who came after him.

He is best known for Asbab an-Nuzul, the foundational work documenting the occasions of revelation of the verses of the Qur'an, which remains a standard reference in the field to this day. Alongside it he wrote three tafsirs of the Qur'an.
