Product description
It is from enmity and hopelessness of the devil that his endeavour to misguide mankind from the Path of Allah will persist. This misguidance takes many shades and forms: be it from planting seeds of doubt or giving rise to deviant ideas antithetical to the sacred teaching of Islam and essentially becoming entangled within regressive intellectual and rhetorical discourses. The Muslim community has suffered varying levels of deviation, some of which remain prevalent today, while more continue to be uncovered- and such as the impact of delusive plotting of the devil and his allies.

This book is a six installment from Dar as-Sunnah of the illustrations in Iman Abu l-Faraj Ibn al- Jawzi. Being a complete translation of his well-known and prized work Ibn Jawzi enumerates within it, many of the mechanisms and modus operandiused by the devil in deceiving and leading mankind away from the Straight Path. It is of particular value and importance because only by unearthing and accentuating some of the traps of the devil can mankind avoid them as well as navigate others away from falling prey to his harm.

Speaking about the devil and his plotting, the author wrote that "he was only able to do so while creeping during the night of ignorance. Had the dawn of knowledge shone on him, he would have been exposed. Thus I decided to warn from his plot... for identifying evil is a form of warning from it."

This translation of Tablis Iblis will provide important analysis in developing self-awareness and critical thinking to ward off many deceptions of the devil, which have plagued mankind from the time of Adam. For such a reason alone, this work is a valuable addition to the scholarly discourse it presents to the English-speaking world.

Ibn al-Jawzi

Al-Hafiz Abu'l-Faraj Ibn al-Jawzi was a renowned Muslim scholar, jurist, theologian, and historian born in Baghdad, Iraq, in 1114 CE. He was born into a scholarly family and began his studies at a young age, excelling in various fields of knowledge.

Ibn al-Jawzi was known for his vast knowledge and expertise in hadith (sayings and actions of the Prophet Muhammad) and Islamic history. He authored over 700 works in various disciplines, including tafsir (Quranic exegesis), fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence), and usul al-fiqh (principles of Islamic jurisprudence).

His most famous works include "Talbis Iblis" (The Devil's Deception), which is a critique of Sufi practices and beliefs that Ibn al-Jawzi considered to be un-Islamic. Another notable work is "Sifat al-Safwa" (The Attributes of the Elite), which is a biographical dictionary of prominent Muslim scholars.

Ibn al-Jawzi was a prolific writer and a popular preacher in his time. He was known for his eloquence and his ability to captivate audiences with his speeches. He was also a vocal critic of the rulers of his time, speaking out against their corrupt practices.

Ibn al-Jawzi died in 1200 CE at the age of 86. His works continue to be studied and appreciated by Muslims around the world for their insights into Islamic history, jurisprudence, and theology.
