About This Book

Juz Tabaarak — the twenty-ninth section of the Qur'an — takes its name from the opening word of Surah al-Mulk, the chapter the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) called "the Protector," which intercedes for its reciter until it is forgiven. This juz contains some of the Qur'an's most profound chapters on the reality of this life, the certainty of the Hereafter, divine power over creation, and the ultimate accountability of every human being.

Tafseer Ibn Kathir: Juz Tabaarak — Part 29, translated by Sameh Strauch, brings the classical explanation of Imam Ibn Kathir to every chapter of this beloved section of the Qur'an — following the same approach as the Juz Amma volume: the Qur'an explained by the Qur'an, by authentic hadith, and by the authenticated statements of the Companions.

What This Book Covers

Surah al-Mulk — The Protector

The surah that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said he would not sleep until he had recited, which intercedes for its reciter until they are forgiven. Ibn Kathir's commentary on this powerful chapter covers its themes of Allah's absolute dominion over creation, the signs of His power in the universe, the reality of death and resurrection, and the ultimate humiliation of those who rejected the message.

Surah al-Qalam Through Surah al-Mursalat

The remaining chapters of this juz — from Surah al-Qalam (The Pen) through Surah al-Mursalat (Those Sent Forth) — are Meccan chapters of extraordinary power, addressing themes of prophethood, divine punishment of those who rejected the messengers, the events of the Day of Judgment, and the descriptions of Paradise and Hell. Ibn Kathir's commentary brings these chapters to life with their prophetic narrations, reasons for revelation, and connections to the broader Quranic narrative.
